What do you call the ".place" part of your domain if not TLD?

Every article I've read says getting a custom TLD is extremely expensive and complicated, but I see people on here every day with custom TLDs. What's up with that?

@stupied the SLD would be the main part preceding the TLD. TLD may not be the correct term, but neither is SLD. I am talking about the few letters after the dot.

Does anyone know of an edible substance with the consistancy of bar soap? Preferably clear? I want to make cilantro flavored soap candy...I've seen some recipies but they're mostly chocolate bars or like super oily lol

Ah, I see. Yes, it's a TLD, but it's not custom. They released a whole bunch of new ones a number of years ago for more variety. They're generally not prohibitively expensive.
