Its always bittersweet to discover the fate of those you see in these yearbooks, only to find they've passed. Especially if they passed young. Especially if they're still alive and you've managed to figure out that they've made quite a fantastic life themselves and are now enjoying retirement. It's bittersweet. Off to buy more yearbooks!

Really one of my favorite parts of collecting vintage yearbooks is the sleuthing, trying to put a face to the owner by reading the messages left behind by their classmates--Or, if they write their own name along the inner cover. I always get a bit disappointed when I get yearbooks with zero writing in it.
