So many web manifestos about not liking social media with like 5 links to their diff social media accounts somewhere on their site or talks about being on social media. It’s okay to have neocities and be on social media I don’t think anyone is going to be mad at you.. I don’t know why people pretend to hate social media on here when it’s often where they spend the most time

FOR REAL!! people act like two things can’t be true at the same time (ie social media sucks, but I use it anyway because it’s useful). there’s zero valid reasons to be actively hating on the modern sns that *you use every day*. idk it’s just annoying and counterproductive 😭😭

I think it is useful to criticise things even if you are a part of them but some people just. don't really try to do much at all about the things they complain about?? like with youtube i use it for uploading video content because videos are big and I don't want to use up all of my file garden space/so i can share stuff more easily with a small-ish fandom I'm in (hit character limit I'll continue on)

- but other than that i use third party apps like newpipe and freetube because I don't want to support youtube and like to have better control of my experience (eg: on freetube i can actually hide channels). meanwhile I see people complain about twitter like the radioactive cesspit that it is and say that they're scared of being doxxed just from being on it and they just. continue to use it normally

and they get really defensive when I explain by using it they are intentionally or not supporting infamous billionaire neonazi elon musk. I don't think I've seen anyone with anything nice to say about twitter but when you talk to them about using something that doesn't make them miserable they act like you've asked them to move a mountain

I kind of view twitter users the same way I view modern day Harry Potter fans. like whether or not you mean to you're supporting someone who wants me and my communities dead

people claiming to stick with it because their friends are on there also bug me because. if your friends care about you surely they can accept moving to literally any other site. it's not like the sign up requirements for twitter are drastically different than anything else. like you just need an email

It’s the same with tik tok too.. I know doomscrolling is addicting but doing something you avidly hate everyday kinda sucks. I turned off my youtube recommendations around a year ago and downsized the people i subscribed to so now I barely even feel the need to be on youtube. It’s amazing how much free time you have when you’re not constantly consuming short form content lol
